Chocolate almond bark

1 cup sugar3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, grated or finely chopped
1 teaspoon chocolate or vanilla extract
1 cup slivered almonds

1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper.2. In a saucepan set over hot, barely simmering water, melt the sugar over low heat until liquefied. Add the chocolate and chocolate extract and cook, stirring, until smooth and blended. Remove from heat and stir in the almonds. Immediately scrape onto the baking sheet and spread evenly. Cool at room temperature until set. Break into pieces for serving.
