1-1 / 2 cups cubed fruit
1/2 cup maple syrup
THIS CREAMY SAUCE MELTS INTO A BEAUTIFUL GREEN CLOAK ON HOT PASTA. I LIKE TO USE FUSILLI HERE BECAUSE THE GROOVES TRAP THE SAUCE, BUT SPAGHETTI, PENNE RIGATE (RIDGED TUBES) OR RUOTE ("WHEELS") WOULD WORK, TOO.

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 2-quart baking dish.2. Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in the milk, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cinnamon. The mixture will look grainy.
3. Add the bread cubes and the fruit to the mixture, toss, and let stand for 10 minutes.
4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 40 minutes. Uncover and bake for 10 more minutes.
5. Remove the pudding from the oven and drizzle with the maple syrup. Serve hot or warm.
